The audience in the Multifunctional hall of DPS, Varanasi were left spellbound seeing the children conduct a world class puppetry show. The show was the culmination of a six day workshop that the children attended under the guiding becon of master puppeteer Padamashree  Dadi D Pudumjee.

The event began with the Geeta Chanting by the children of Junior Wing. Through the magic of shadow puppetry the children made a humble effort to show the creation of the world and the gradual degradation in the environment today. The response of the audience clearly showed that the children were successful in touching their hearts.

The students showed the finer tricks of puppetry and the delicate process of crafting their own puppets. Numerous types of puppets including the sock puppets, finger puppets, hand puppets, string puppets and stick puppets were also showcased. The audience were amazed to see various everyday common articles like bells, bottles, paper cutouts etc get transformed and come alive in the heads of the young master.

A performance on nature and life, a visual show without many words, “ Kalpataru” based on  children’s story “The Giving Tree”  was staged by shree Pudumjee and his talented team. The show appealed both to children and adults as they were transported to a realm of awe and wonder.

All the participants of the puppet show were given certificates. The event was attended by the Director Mr. Pankaj Rajgarhia and Mrs. Seema Rajgarhia, Principal Mr. R.K Pandey, Vice Principal Mrs. Ashoo Kalra , other dignitaries , parents , teachers and students of DPS Varanasi. Ms. Tanya Jaya Krishnan welcomed the audience and the vote of thanks was given by Meenakshi Mishra.
