WORKSHOP ON MADHUVANI PAINTING
A one week workshop on "MADHUBANI ART" was held from 7th May to 12 th May in the school.It was a workshop organised under the joint venture of SPIC MACAY and DPS Varanasi. The resource persons were Mr Saroj kumar Jha and Mrs Mamta Jha.
The students were briefed about the origin of this traditional art form of Madhubani district of Mithila region of Bihar, popularly known as Mithila painting or Madhubani painting.
Madhubani is also a major export centre of these paintings. This painting as a form of wall art was practised widely throughout the region .The more recent development of painting on paper and canvas mainly originated among the villages around Madhubani, and hence it got the name-Madhubani Painting or Mithila Painting.
It was a learning experience for the students wherein they got to know the intricate details and technicalities of this form of painting . Students were provided with stationery items and were trained as to what medium of paint to be used. Madhubani paintings mostly depict human beings and their association with nature and the scenes and deities from the ancient epics.
Madhubani Painting has acquired a state of the art form. The state government of Bihar has awarded and recognized it as the highest form of art.The workshop ended on a happy and vibrant note just like the myriad hues of this beautiful art form.
