‘Dharohar’ is an initiative by Delhi Public School Varanasi to provide  an opportunity to the upcoming talents of Varanasi, with a social motive to recognize the skill of individuals who were not fortunate enough to get the platform where upon they could exhibit their talent and skill.

The first step in breaking new ground in this regard was taken on 24th January 2009. Local artistes like Shri Sukhdev Mishra an eminent violinist accompanied by Shri Kishore Mishra on the tabla had the good fortune of sharing the stage with Ms. Rimpa Shiva an artiste of repute from Kolkata. The artistes were accorded a floral welcome followed by lighting of the lamp. Thereafter the anchor of the show Dr. Neelu Dixit introduced the artistes. Then she elaborated upon the aims and objectives of this initiative stating that it is our Culture and Heritage which holds a mirror to our society.

Next was a soothing and melodious rendition on the violin by Shri Sukhdev Mishra, who started learning the intricacies of playing the instrument at the age of 6. He has been honoured with the title SURBHANI. There after the audience was mesmerized by the dexterous performance of Ms. Rimpa Shiva on tabla.

The vibrant beats echoed on the Assi ghat on the bank of holy Ganges and left everyone spellbound. The presence of Mr. Amitabh Ranjan (DIG) IP and Mrs Rashmi Ranjan , graced the occasion with their benign presence.The programme took place under the able supervision of Mrs & Mr. Rajgarhia and the headmistress Ms Ashoo Kalra.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Neelu Dixit wherein she extended her heart felt thanks to those present for their cooperation and support. She even congratulated and praised the mission, initiative and efforts taken up by Delhi Public School in this direction.

This step is indeed commendable as this is one way to retain the glory of Varanasi at the same preserve the past culture.
