The workshop began with Shri Purbayan elaborating the basic skills of learning a Raga. He made the workshop lively and interesting by relating it to popular film songs and explaining them how the basic ‘swars’ are to be recognized. . Shri Anubrata Chatterjeee accompanied him on the Tabla, discussing the different ‘taals’ and the children had a fun time learning and practicing with the Experts.  Shri Purbayan taught the students how to identify a note on the scale and various other intricacies of music. He also discussed ‘Teen Taal’ and made the students recite it and elaborated on how to recognize the beats, ‘sum’ in any ‘taal’ and other subtleties of ‘taals’ and ‘ragas.”.

In his brief interaction with the students, Shri Purbayan posed several questions to the students testing their grasping power.

It was indeed a highly informative and an eye-opening session for all the music lovers. Everybody present at the workshop was left craving for more such tips from the expert.

The workshop ended with all   the students joining in with the guests, singing Vande Matram.
