MONSOON FIESTA

DPS Varanasi celebrated the “MONSOON FIESTA” on 4th August ’07 in the school premises. A show Par Excellence, the theme was beautifully depicted in the entire premises. The variety of birds, the water laden clouds and the sounds of thunder roaring above, accompanied with lightening, gave a feeling of being right in the middle of lashing rains. The cultural extravaganza was a hit right from the word-GO. Based on theme of Monsoon, it was presented by the tiny tots of class prep, nursery & I, who had come all decked up for the occasion.

The programme commenced with the guests being welcomed by Ms.Roli and Mr.Anand Pandey, the anchors for the evening. Thereafter, The chief guest for the evening, the Commissioner of Varanasi, Mr.Nitin Ramesh Gokarn shared his views and memories with the audience and blessed the little ones for the show they were about to put up.

The first programme of the evening was a Shiv Stuti, SHIVASHTAK by the children of Nursery, Prep and Class I. It was, in a way welcoming the Monsoons and thanking the Lord for it.

The second presentation was an English song ‘Welcome Rains’ expressing the happiness and joy of the kids .The foot taping rhythm of the song soon had the entire audience clapping to their tunes.
The Umbrella dance by the children of Nursery, Prep and Class I was a brilliantly conceived presentation, where the children danced on the music of ‘Crazy Frog’ with their colorful umbrellas. The dressed up frogs hopping around were a delight to watch.

The next programme on the agenda was a Hindi action song titled ‘Varsha Ayee’ sung by the students of Class I and enacted by the children of nursery and prep. The song brought to life the Strains of Monsoon, which blended wonderfully with the lovely ambience created in the school.

Medhak Mama was a musical presentation of the fun the frogs and the peacock have, during the rains. It was presented by the students of Class I. The involvement of the little participants had the audience enthralled through out the presentation.

The peacock dance was probably the best presentation of the evening by the students of Class I. Little colorful peacocks fluttered and twirled around the entire stage celebrating the arrival of Monsoon. The rhythmic movement, the foot tapping music and the setting sun all created an ambience, which would long remain in the memories of those who were a witness to it.

The concluding programme of the evening was the ‘Rainbow Rhyme’ by the students of class Prep and Class I, sharing their happiness and wonder at the sight of the beautifully colored rainbow.

Shri Pradeep Ghosh, Principal of the School, presented the token of love to the Hon’able guest of the evening. Ms. Purnima Bajre read out the vote of thanks after the presentation was over. The Headmistress of the school Ms. Ashoo Kalra graced the occasion by her presence. Mr.Anand Pandey, Ms.Roli Mankhand successfully anchored the entire show, which was highly appreciated and enjoyed by the audience.
