Annual Sports Day - Senior Wing Delhi Public School, Varanasi celebrated its Annual Sports Day for the senior wing. The blight and shinning faces of the students revealed their zeal and enthusiasm. This event was a platform wherein the students displayed their lack and talent in the various track and field events. The programme  for the day was flagged off by Mr. Pradeep Ghosh, Principal DPS, Varanasi and Regional Sports Officer Mr. Vijay Kumar, the Chief Guest for the occasion. Mr. Vijay Kumar declared the meet open by hoisting the school flag and releasing the balloons.

For once the silent lawns of DPS, Varanasi reverberated with echoes of applause as the students off DPS smartly marched past saluting the Chief Guest  and  the spectators. The Principal Mr. Pradeep Ghosh while addressing the gathering observed that it was the sporting arena where you get to learn the basis values of life, how to take split second decision and become better prepared to face the challenges of life. The Chief Guest Mr. Vijay Kumar continued on the same lines in his address, stating that in today’s times Sports is an equally creative profession and can be opted for, by those who have the talent and interest. He also added that studies should be given the maximum importance and that one is no where without academics. Following this the sports captain Yuvraj bearing the torch symbolism the spirit of sports went around the field. Thereafter the oath was led by the Sports Captain. The Pyramid formation by the students of Class XI symbolized the importance of training, discipline and unity. The star performance of the day was Karate. It was spine tingling presentation with the girls breaking heaps of tiles with their tender hands. Another attraction of the day was the events for the Parents. Fast walking for the ladies and 100 m race for the gentlemen. Also there was a fast walking event for the lady teachers and a 100m. Sprint for the male teachers. Thereafter medals and prizes were awarded to the winners of the various events. The medals were given away by the chief guest Mr. Vijay Kumar. The Principal Mr. Pradeep Ghosh proposal the vote of thanks. The entire day’s programme was very ably conducted by Mrs. Indrani Sen and Mr. Anand Pandey .
