Annual Function : Senior wing

The premises of Delhi Public Public School Varanasi  was pulsating with enthusiasm on 8th November 2009 as children and parents thronged during the happy occasion of the school’s 7th Annual function.

 

The evening programme started with the welcoming of the Guests by Head Girl Shubhi Sinha. Wg. Cdr. V.P Agrawal, commanding officer 7up Air Squ, NCC was the guest of  Honour and on the  special guest for the evening was Lt. Col. R.K.J Kamble, Training officer, NCC group, Headquater ‘A’ BHU

The programme started with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by the eminent guests along with Pro VC Mr. Pradeep Rajgarhia, Principal Mr. Pradeep  Ghosh and the Vice- Principal Ms. Ashoo Kalra . Mr. Pradeep Ghosh, the Principal  presented  the school Annual Report and acquainted the audience with achievements and activities during the previous year.

The first item was the Odissi dance ‘Ahe Nilo Solio’ performed by a group of young girl  who  gave a scintillating  performance. It was based on the composition of a Muslim devotee of Lord   Jaganath who sang about the various divine episodes of the Lord including the Draupadee episode and the Narsing Avatar episode from the Indian religious scriptures.

This was followed by a group song ‘With a High Hope’ composed by Kaviguru Ravindra Nath Tagroe. The melodious performance by the students left the audience spell-bound.

The school Orchestra made an everlasting impact on the audience with their outstanding performance on the keyboard, tabla, electric Spanish Guitar, violin, Octopad and Drum. The main attraction of the Orchestra was a brilliant performance by a player who played on eight different tablas at a time. The first part of the Orchestra was composed in the Classical Raga ‘Kirwani’ set in Teen Taal and second part was composed in western style.

The Hindi play ‘Shri Krishna- Sudama’ reminded the audience of the spiritual companionship between Shri Krishna and Sudama. The excellent performance of the students captivated the audience totally.

The main attraction of the evening was the English play ‘ The Merchant of Venice’ by William Shakespeare. The ambience created on the stage reminded everyone of the Shakespearean age and the performance by the students was flawless, and the audience waited to know about justice that had to be done to Antonio and were amazed to see Portia disguised as a lawyer to defend Bassanio and Antonio from the clutches of Shylock.

The anchors Shrishti, Jhalak, Stuti, Suramaya and Anushweta helped the programme to run successfully. The vote of thanks was given by Ms. Indrani Sen.  

Pro VC Mr. Pradeep Rajgharia congratulated the children and parents for putting in great efforts to make the programme  a success. Ms. Seema and Mr. Pankaj Rajgharia was also present to boost  the morale of the students and the teachers.
